Busy Busy Busy

What a busy week we had. I am so glad I have a little trooper with me. It's amazing how in retirement you suddenly find your schedule completely booked once again!

Sunday
Day of rest :)

Monday
Eli went to my mom's while I painted our guest bathroom. I had to pick him up early because a burglary happened and the suspect tried to enter my mom's house. Scary! The Bedford police were in full force patrolling the blocks trying to find him. . . but they never did.

Tuesday
Grocery store, laundry and Life Groups that night. My mom tried to brave both boys - but little E was having nothing to do with it. Jen and I took turns upstairs baby sitting.

Wednesday
Drove out to Decatur to get my oil changed at the dealership then to Paradise to visit my grandparents. Thank goodness for GPS because we drove county roads almost the entire way!

Thursday
Lunch with Lauren and then some cardio! I am trying to get back into running. I also spent the afternoon chasing ducks out of pool.

Friday
Martin's Housewarming! It was so much fun to see all our friends and celebrate the Martin's new gorgeous home. Eli was great too! He fell asleep in my arms and we were able to stay out until 12:30am. He was also gracious enough to sleep until 8:00am Saturday morning.

Saturday
I almost showed up for a baby shower that is scheduled for next week. Instead we did yardwork, pressure washed the side of our house, went to lunch with Brent's family, watched 2 movies AND booked our flight to Copenhagen -- yes, I get to go to Denmark with Brent. PARTY TIME!
Whew! This week started off great! For Mother's Day, Brent and Eli surprised me with a spa pedicure at the Gaylord. That is way better than my normal shopping mall strip pedi.

Duck Season

We have new pets. . . unwelcome pets. For the last 2 weeks we have had visitors that come and go as they please. I don't know where they came from, but I do not want them to make a permanent home in our backyard.

Our dogs aren't much of a deterrent since the ducks are actually bigger than them. We might have to call Brad if they don't make their way down to Bear Creek park.

Notice that one of the ducks is giving me the stink eye!

9 Month Update

Below are Eli's 9 month stats and a few other fun things.

Height - 29 inches - 70%
Weight - 20 lbs - 38%
Teeth - 4 - two teeth next to his front teeth are making their way down!
I also made his 1 year appointment :(. It is going way too fast! He is picking things up so quickly. This week he grabs your hands when he is ready to play patty-cake, sits in my lap and uses his pointer finger when he wants to see your mouth and nose, and we finally bought a crib protector since he is using it as a teether.
He has also developed a very strong opinion on things like diaper changes, toweling off after a bath and wiping down after food. Any time I start to feel like backing down I remember Deuteronomy 13:24 If you love your children, you will be prompt to discipline them. That is a tough verse to follow once it's your own! I think I might be the push-over parent . . . sorry Brent!
We are working on waving hi and bye-bye (he will occasionally do the motion), finger foods, cruising with walker, sitting down after standing, and rolling the ball.
Smiling big!
A fun day at the park
Not sure what to think
I am an arms reach away. . . don't worry!
He is trying to make it work! The carpet doesn't help, but he is not ready for the tile unassisted.

New Accomplishments

The last 2 weeks we have had some big accomplishments at the Fisher house. First to report, we have a crawler! Finally! I think he was waiting until he had it completely figured out before trying. He did not pull in his knees, rock or army crawl. In a matter of a few days he was up on all four and started cross-crawling. Let the adventures begin!

Next, he is drinking from a cup and straw. He was eye-balling my Baylor mug the other day so I let him try to sip some water out of the straw and he was a pro. He now has his own cup to enjoy. I tried formula in it, but it just made him mad.

Other major accomplishments include sleeping through the night until 8:00am. Woo-hoo and again FINALLY!

To end, below is a video of Eli's happy dance.

What??

Eli is learning new things so quickly it's hard for us to keep up. I'm sure from this point on that will be the case for most everything.
Last week he was able to consistently sit himself up from laying down. It changed his whole world! So Wednesday night I mentioned to Brent we will need to drop his bed this weekend. I think Eli heard me because that night he surprised me. I heard him crying in the middle of the night so I go up there to see what happened and he is standing in his crib! Hanging half way over! I think he was scared and didn't know how to get back down.
Ever since then here is what he looks like when I get him in the morning:

He has figured out how to drop the ball down the slide.

Practicing clapping. We say "Yay Eli" and he flaps his arms occasionally making contact with his hands. We are still working on that one :)
Here are a few other thing:
- Feeding himself. He holds his spoon and knows to scoop the baby food. It is a big mess! Mostly we let him feed himself rice cake thingies.
- When he is DONE he shakes his head no and waves his hand in front of his face.
- Walker - He can maneuver the walker around corners, back up, and walk step-by-step.
- Sing along - He loves singing whenever he hears music -- country mostly. The ABCs also calm him down. I had to have a talk with him the other day that mommy can't sing in public so we need to find a new calming technique.
- Making music with his rattle, tambourine or banging anything.
- We can ask "Where's Dada, mama, dog or book" and he can find them.
It is all so fun!!

Happy Easter Weekend

We had a wonderful weekend filled with family and friends. We started by heading out Saturday to the Stockyards with Brad and Jen (my brother and sister-in-law). We visited the Easter Bunny, looked at baby animals and enjoyed the fresh air.

Sitting on the lawn.

Walking around like a big boy.

Hanging with cousin Colton.

Sunday we went to the 8:00am service (we were the youngest there by probably 40 years), Sunday school class, then off to lunch at Brent's parent's house followed by dinner at my mom's.

What We Are Loving

I am stealing this from Melissa because I thought it was such a cute post :)

What we are loving right now:
Eli
  • Food! He loves squash, peas, zucchini, sweet potatoes, peaches, and apples. It is nearly impossible for us to eat without having food ready for him. He watches you take every bite.
  • Walking (with assistance of course)
  • The dogs -- he is barking back at them
  • Swinging
  • Sleeping on his stomach - I put him on his back at night but every morning when I get him he is looking at me while on his stomach

Rachel

  • Books - when I am able to steal an hour or so to read something other than Things that Go or Bubbles Bubbles
  • The sun!
  • Being at home
  • Eli holding his own bottle
  • Listening to Eli try to mimic your words

Brent

  • Cooking -- at his own desire! He has made fondue and stuffed mushrooms in the last couple weeks.
  • Preparing for his guys trip in May
  • Going on walks in the evening
  • Making Eli belly laugh
  • Meeting again with Lifegroups
