Just like Daddy

Not only does Eli look like Brent, he is also picking up some of his quirks. If you will remember a few months ago Eli picked up Brent's "dream screams". He has now moved on to the same sleeping position as Daddy.

Brent sleeps on his back with his knees up. He positions his feet so that he can stay that way all night --- it looks very strange. I have caught Eli in the same position several times now!

ummmm. . . I can't nap when you are taking pictures.

I'm awake!

I would post some pictures of Brent in the same position, but adults aren't as cute sleeping.

Baby Dedication

This past Sunday was "Baby Dedication" at our church - First Baptist Euless. It is a time for us to stand up in front of the congregation and dedicate Eli to be brought up in the way of the Lord.

It started off with a parent/grandparent breakfast. Our Preschool Ministry is amazing in its dedicated from the beginning to let each and every child know Jesus loves you and God made you. As an infant the nursery volunteers have a different bible verse they speak and pray over each infant on the changing table. What a great ministry to start hearing the Word at such a young age! They stressed at the breakfast the importance of partnering together for spiritual growth. An interested fact I learned is that by the age of 5 most personalities are two-thirds formed. Eek! Another scary parenting fact!

Here are some pictures of the day:

Foodie for Life!

A foodie is someone with a deep interest in food. Eli started his foodie tendencies a few weeks ago as he carefully watched Brent and I eat lunch and dinner. Then the big day came for him to try some food of his own!

Splish Splash

This was taken a few weeks ago, he is much better now at sitting and splashing! We spend the last 5 minutes of bathtime just splashing and throwing toys around.

First Sleepover

So Brent and I did it. We let Eli spend his first night away from home on New Year's Eve. We were going back and forth on it, but then realized it had been 3 months since we had a date night. So we let Mimaw and Papaw (Brent's parents) have the honor of his first night away. I was more concerned for them than Eli. If you have read my previous post, Eli one day decided sleep is overrated and still maintains the same attitude.

So we dropped him off at 6:00pm for us to enjoy some adult time. We went to eat and then a friend's house. Even though we were without children the topic dominated our conversations - dirty diapers, steaming vegetables, sitting up, spitting up, shots, etc.

At 9:45pm we got the phone call - Eli's upset. In Terri's words "Baby Chernobyl meltdown 30 minutes before bed". Thankfully it was nothing a bottle couldn't solve and then he slept until 5:30am.
Thanks for letting us have a night out!

Happy New Year!
