Carmel was in the 50s and a little overcast, but a welcomed relief from Texas. The town of Carmel has a very European feel to it. Its downtown is full of cottages and small shops. There were no chains -- not even a Starbucks! I loved it and would want to go back.
Friday night was a rehearsal dinner of sorts at the groom's uncle's house. It is a mansion! His house and landscaping is immaculate.
Saturday (the wedding day) the girls went out to brunch and walked downtown for a little bit before everyone went their separate ways to prepare for the big event. The boys played golf at 7:00am. It was an early wake up call!
Brent and I at the beach site for the wedding. It was freezing! I don't think it made it to 55 degrees that day. The wedding was beautiful, intimate, and personal with only 30 people in attendance.
The bride and groom. They had a mini-reception at an amazing restaurant that overlooked the downtown area with the ocean as a background.
The next morning we woke up early with a few other people and went hiking in Point Lobos State Park. We were promised sea lions, sea otter, penguins and beautiful trails.
It was beautiful! The trails were amazing and we probably could have spent all day exploring.
Unfortunately, we did not see any otters or penguins. We did stumble upon 5-6 sea lions sunbathing and one dead sea lion washing up to shore. The circle of life can be so cruel!
Sunday afternoon we toured a bunch of golf courses - Pebble Beach, Poppy Hills, and Spyglass. I say toured because one round at Pebble Beach was $500. So we bought a few golf balls and took pictures.

Monday morning we took a stroll down the beach. It was really cold and full of dogs. The dogs are very social. Jewels would not last one minute! I didn't post pictures, but the houses along the beach could be compared to the size of an apartment complex. They were pretty spectacular.
Congrats to your friends.
ReplyDeleteOh, don't you just love Carmel!?
And Catalina too, for that matter!
You guys will have to go to Catalina next!
I'd LIVE in California if Hubby would go with me....but he says that it's way too liberal for his liking....
ugh.
We would totally visit Carmel again too.... HINT HINT!!! ;) Congrats to Dena and Chad!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing pictures. The one with the rocks and the sea scape,I think I could sit there all day and just stare. I don't think it's fair we don't have that kind of scenery here. We enjoyed the your scripted photo tour.We want to see the mansions by the sea. Mom and Daddio
