One Tall and Skinny Dude

"One tall and skinny dude" is how our pediatrician, Dr. Dickey, described Eli at his 2 month check up. This time he had to get 4 shots. It was so sad, but necessary to keep him healthy. Prior to the shots he laid on the table kicking, flailing his arms, cooing and smiling. When the nurse came in he smiled and tried to talk to her while she prepared the shots.

Brent held his arms and she pinned his legs. The first shot came and in 15 seconds all 4 were done. Poor Eli was red-faced crying and for the first time we saw tears. Ugh, that's when tears almost welled up in my eyes as well. But in true Eli fashion, as soon as we picked him up he stopped crying and nuzzled into Dad's chest. Brent and I also got the flu shot while we were there so our family as a whole would have sore appendages.

Here are Eli's stats at 9 weeks:
Height - 24.5 inches - 1.25 inches in 4 weeks - 89%
Weight - 12 lbs 8 oz - Gained almost 2 1/2 lbs in 4 weeks - 64%
I can definitely feel the weight gain! It is hard for me to maneuver him in the car seat and after holding him for long periods of time my arm is sore the next day. I still need to build up muscle strength! He is also fitting in 3 month clothes not 0-3. He will have the same problem I did growing up -- finding pants that are long enough! We will see how it goes this Fall/Winter. Good thing Texas is hot and "short" season last for 8 of the 12 months in the year.
